West Winfield Douglas J. Augar (a.k.a. Doug/Dougie/Pete), 71, formerly of Litchfield and most recently of West Winfield, passed away on Friday March 22, 2013 at St. Luke’s Home in New Hartford following a long illness.   Doug was born on November 5, 1941 in Ilion the son of the late Frederick and Eva Augar.  He graduated from West Winfield High School in 1959.  He was a life-long dairy farmer having worked most of his life on the family farm and later at Don-Dale and Tayl-Wind farms.  He enjoyed the outdoors-especially hunting and fishing.  Doug was an avid sports fan who liked to watch baseball, NASCAR and college basketball (especially Syracuse and Duke).   Doug is survived by his daughters Heather Augar of Morris Plains, NJ and Fiona Augar of Doylestown, PA; his brother Ronald and his wife Lois Auger of Richfield Springs, NY and his brother-in-law Edward Clark of West Winfield, NY; sisters Joann and her husband Eugene Stafford of Caledonia, NY, Dianne and her husband Michael Louvet of Craigsville, VA and Terri and her husband Timothy Donnelly of Brookfield, MA.  He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was pre-deceased by his parents and his sister, Nyla Clark.   Funeral services for Douglas will be on Friday, March 29 at 2:30 p.m.at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc., 100 Otsego St. Ilion, NY. Rev. Robert Wollaber will officiate; interment will be in the Kinne Cemetery. On line condolences may be sent by going to www.whiter-hendrix.com.
