Ilion Date Line Donald E. Eggleston 76 of 4 Division Street, Ilion passed away Friday August 26, 2011 at St Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. Don was born March 3, 1935 in Richfield Springs, NY the son of the late Ernest and Golda House Eggleston, and was a graduate of Mohawk High School. In 1954 he was united in marriage to the former Betty Thomas. Don was employed as a shipping clerk with Remington Arms in Ilion, retiring in 1993. Don was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ilion, a former member of the Ilion Moose Lodge 1010, a former member of the Neighborhood Watch, and a former deacon of the First Presbyterian Church, he was also active in the East Frankfort Boy Scouts for several years. Don is survived by his wife Betty, a son and daughter in law Douglas and Christine Eggleston of Sackets Harbor, two daughters and a son in law Carol Eggleston of Jacksonville, FL, and Jacquie and Richard Monohan of Ilion, a sister Gertrude Mang of Mohawk, his grandchildren Adrian Burkard, Lauren Eggleston, , Brian Schoonover and his wife Hilda, James and Ashley Iselin, Erica, Richard and Kali Monohan, his great grandchildren Gavin, Cole, Joey, and Page. He was predeceased by a brother Elvin Eggleston. In keeping with Don's wishes there are no public calling hours, a memorial service will be held at a date and time to be announced. Friends are asked to consider memorials to the Arthritis Foundation 5858 East Malloy Road, Syracuse, New York 13211 in Don's memory.
