Mohawk - Patricia L. (Bala) Baylor, 84, of Mohawk, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, in the peace and comfort of her home.
She was born on November 12, 1938, to Victor and Ella Dibble Bala in Whitesboro NY. Pat attended Mohawk Central School and graduated with the Class of 1956. Pat was married to Donald E. Baylor, Sr. on October 30, 1958. She and Don resided at Getmans Corner, where they raised their 4 children and Pat remained there until her passing. They had a blessed union of 55 years.
Pat worked at American Hardwall Plaster Co. in Mohawk for a brief period in her younger years. Most of her adult life was spent raising her children and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with her special homemade chocolate chip cookies. Pat, affectionately called Gram and Great Nana, was in her glory when she was surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her children, Donald and Lauren Baylor, of Mohawk, Michele and Alan Wiernicki of El Paso TX, Jason Baylor of Mohawk and her daughter in-law Linda Baylor of Mohawk. Her seven grandchildren Donald Baylor III, Brè Baylor (Tim) of Mohawk. Mandi (Justin) White of Little Falls, Alex Wiernicki of Phoenix, AZ, Lucy and Julia Wiernicki of El Paso and James Baylor of Mohawk. Her great-grandchildren Adriana, Lauryn, Sofia, Breydon and Makenna.
Pat is survived by her brother Leo (Patti) Bala and her sister-in-laws Sylvia Bala, Emma Vedder, Marion Baylor, Eleanor Baylor, Jean Hyde, and her brother in-law Ken Cook, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her very dear life long friends John and Janet Kucerak. Pat was predeceased by her husband Don on October 5, 2013 and her son Stephen on October 17, 2013 as well as three brothers, Richard, James, and William Bala.
A graveside service for Pat will take place on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Mohawk Cemetery Annex on Rt. 28 in Mohawk. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. Ilion, NY 13357.
