Larry was my one and only boyhood idol, no contest. Only two years older, but he was light years ahead of me in terms of scientific knowledge about the world, the latest recreational gadgets, relations with the other gender, and just how to be cool. We had a camp way across from his place on Canadarago Lake, and I always enjoyed our visits there and the fact that he shared a lot of his time, and latest interests with me. On my later trips back to the Valley my visits to see him at the station or his home were always enjoyable because of his natural love for socializing and a keen sense of humor which let me know where he stood on an issue but never ever offended or criticized my position. He treated me as an equal although I knew he knew better. I now appreciate how important that was at an insecure time when many of my high school peers were not so friendly.
I will miss him very much.
