Ilion – Mrs. Margaret Sylvia “Peg” (Ferris) Stafford, 81, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at MVHS - St. Luke’s Campus with her loving family by her side. She was born in Endicott, NY on July 30, 1940, Peg was the daughter of the late Herbert C. and Mildred G. Light Ferris. She was a graduate of Vestal Central School District in 1958. She continued her education at SUNY Buffalo where she received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in 1962. She attended Syracuse University at Utica College to receive her Master’s Degree in education. She went on to work at Ilion Jr./Sr. High School as an Art Teacher, retiring in 1990. She married Richard Stafford in 1964 and they shared a blessed union until his passing in 2010. Peg is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Jewel Stafford of Ilion and Doug and Pam Stafford of Glenville; her beloved grandchildren, Andrew and Chelsea Stafford of Ilion, Amanda Stafford of Mechanicville, Cherisse and Sean Small of Ilion and Cordell and Shaina Stafford of Ilion; her great-grandchildren, Kendra, Katherine, Emilia, Jackson, and Alexis; one brother and sister-in-law, Ronald E. and Carol Ferris of Aiken, SC and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. A Memorial Service will follow at the conclusion of visitation with Deacon James Bower, officiating. Inurnment will take place in New Berlin Cemetery at the convenience of her family.
