Herkimer Christopher N. Gayhart, 32 of Herkimer, passed away on Friday May 28, 2021, at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York. Chris was born on October 4, 1988, in Ilion, he was the son of Robert Gayhart and Susan (Grann) Slabe. He attended school in Ilion and worked as a food prep at Yetty's in Herkimer. Chris had a love of artwork and crafts, drawing numerous scenes, portraits and creating Origami art for friends and family. He had a passion for music, helping with the family deejaying business for years. He loved the outdoors and found enjoyment in rock and crystal collecting, fishing, planting flowers and feeding wildlife - especially his flock of wild birds. He also had a love for socializing and would have a specialized greeting for everyone he came in contact with. He cultivated many friendships with people of all ages, and was always there to help anyone in need. Chris' special gift was making people forget their troubles, and making them smile at life, even if it took an amazing Yo-Yo trick to do so. Chris is survived by his mother Sue Slabe and her companion Mike Marro of Ilion; daughters Hayden Wood of Herkimer and Brittany Robidoux of Clarks Mills . His siblings are: brother, and best friend, Robert "Bud" Gayhart of Herkimer; sister Ashleigh and husband Kent of Herkimer; brother Brett and wife Lacy of Syracuse; brother Duane and companion Shayla of Ontario,CA; sister Cheyenne and companion Bobby of Utica; brother Seth of Clayville and sister Dakotah of Ilion. His grandmothers Marilyn Reed of Mebane, NC, Donna Grann of Utica, NY, and Gladys Gayhart of Painted Post, NY - and many nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles. Very special friends include Dan O'Day, Dawn Wood, Felicia Netti and The Yettys Crew. He was predeceased by his father Robert and sister Tashia. In keeping with the families wishes there are no public services, but there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date for family and friends.
