Mohawk, Schuyler Barbara (Safford) McGraw, 75, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015 at home with her family by her side. She was born in Utica on November 27, 1939, the daughter of the late Randall and Gertrude Louise (Plunkett) Safford. She was raised and educated in Mohawk graduating in 1957. On July 27, 1957 she wed Richard McGraw, he passed away in 1997. Barb worked for many years as a legal secretary, retiring in 2005 from the law offices of Getman, Franchi and Applegate. Barb was an active member of Christian Women of Herkimer. Barb is survived by her sister and brother in law Phyllis and Donald Brien of Ilion, three sons and a daughter in law Richard and Leslie McGraw of Schuyler, Mark McGraw of Florida and Scott McGraw of Mohawk, eight grandchildren: Kayla, Casey, Paige and Erin; Sarah and Jonathan; Michael and McKenzie and two great grandchildren, Autumn and Lillianna. In keeping with Barb’s wishes there will be no calling hours, a graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 10:30 AM in the Mohawk Cemetery located on John St. Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St. Ilion. Friends are asked to consider memorials to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, N. Y. 13413.
