Herkimer Edward L. Aney, 60, of 502 Lake St. passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Ed was born January 19, 1955 in Ilion the son of the late Gordon and Katherine Hazzard Aney and was raised by his foster parents John and Florence Hamlin. Ed attended school in Van Hornsville and on August 14, 1993 was united in marriage with Ruth Fox. Ed was employed as a driver with Spohn Disposal and prior to that he drove for Heidelburg Bakery. Ed is survived by his wife Ruth, two brothers, Glen and Robert Aney, a sister, Jean Aney, three half brothers, Danny, Timmy and Joe Barletta, a step brother, David Barletta, a half sister, Mabel Wilson. He is also survived by his sister in laws, Florence Fox, Colleen Fox and Patty Fox, two brothers in law, Frank and George Fox, several nieces and nephews including Laura, Nicholas and Craig Dager, Wade Smith, Joshua, Vanessa and Grayden Arndt Jr., Ruthy, Annamay and Dorjean Fox, Annamay and Peter Leonard, Jr., his best friend, David Gay and many other close friends. Ed was predeceased by his brother, Jimmy Aney, his sister, Christine Dager, his nephew, Jimmy Aney and his mother in law, Janice Broadbent. Ed's funeral service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St., Ilion, with Pastor Roger Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. Friends may call on Monday, May 4, 2015 at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home from 4-7 PM.
