New Hartford Elizabeth (Betty) Stanburg, 82 of New Hartford, New York passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford, NY, with her family by her side. Betty was born on January 7, 1933 the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy (Smith) Hofmeister. She was employed as a Tube Designer for Homogenous Metals in Clayville, New York, retiring in 1993. Betty is survived by her two sons, Frank Gilberti of Utica, NY and James Gilberti of New Hartford, NY; five daughters and sons-in-laws, Elizabeth True of Florida, Diane (Howard) Chapple of Cedarville, NY, Mary (Michael) Chapple of Frankfort, NY, Jean Akselrod of Florida and Susan (Robert) Loomis of Utica, NY; two sisters, Dorothy Hayes of West Winfield and Joan Sgroi of Utica, NY and 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by a brother, Frances Hofmeister. A memorial mass for Betty will be held on Thursday April 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM, at St. Joseph & St. Patrick's Church, 702 Columbia Street, Utica, NY. Friends may call Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 4 to 6 pm at Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego Street, Ilion, NY. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Le and the staff of the AC 2 West at St. Luke's hospital especially her granddaughter Melissa for all the wonderful care and compassion shown to Betty during her stay.
