Dawn Matthews, 66 of 96 Second St., passed away Wednesday April 1,2015 at home with her family by her side.
Dawn was born February 27, 1949 in Elmira, the daughter of Richard and Kathy Cole and was educated in Horseheads, NY. She was married to Lester Matthews, he passed away in 1989. She was employed with Dietary Services at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home up until her illness.
Dawn is survived by her daughter Jessica Pagan, three sons Roger Morczek Jjr. and his fiancée Danielle Stone, William Bastion and Guy Bastion all of Ilion. She is also survived by two sisters Diane LaCelle and Mary Wilcox both of Williamson, NY, her brother Dale Carman of Duluth, Minn., her grandchildren Allana Proulx, Kaylyne Bastion, Nikolas Bastion, Damian Stone and Destiny Taylor, also two special nieces Rebecca Gillette and Jazmyn Gillette, several foster siblings and several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Linda Crane, a brother Herbert Carman, the father of her children, Roger Morczek Sr. and her companion for many years Harold Everhartt.
A memorial service for Dawn will be held on Wednesday April 8, 2015 at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St., Ilion, with Rev. Nate Drummond officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 PM until the time of the service.

The Whiter Funeral Company was started in 1893 by H.A. Whiter and was originally located in Forestport, NY. Following a fire in Forestport, the family relocated in Ilion, and reopened the funeral home in the early 1900's.
