Ilion- Jean Rae Dunn, 95, of 45 South 4th Avenue, Ilion, NY (originally of Levittown, NY) passed away on August 8, 2014 with her loving family by her side at the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion, NY. Jean was born in Buffalo, NY on November 6, 1918, the daughter of the late John and Cora Nancy (Johnson) Miller. She was married on April 17, 1948 to Edward J. Dunn at St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC. She lived in Levittown, NY for close to 60 years before moving to Ilion in 2010 to live with her devoted daughter Katherine. Jean was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution serving as past Regent to the Jerusalem Chapter in Wantagh, NY. She enjoyed cross-stitching and crocheting making hundreds of beautiful afghans. She enjoyed reading at least two books a week, listening to opera, watching the NY Rangers and NY Yankees and playing Maj Jong every Wednesday afternoon with special group of friends at the East Herkimer Fire Station. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Schwabach and son-in-law Bruce of Ilion, NY, her son Michael Dunn of Wantagh, NY, nine grandchildren Victor Ortiz (wife Kelley), Pablo Ortiz (wife Judy), Julian Ortiz, Kelsey Alford (husband Justin), James Schwabach, Erica Schwabach, Brendan Dunn, Allison Dunn, Rielly Dunn, two great grandchildren- Elliot Ortiz and Amelia Ortiz and a special cousin-Dexter Miller. She also leaves behind a special sister-in-law Anne Veilson and brother-in-law Martin Dunn and many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edward J. Dunn (April 1989) and her daughter Nancy Ortiz (March 1999). A special thank you goes out to all of the staff at the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center in Ilion for all of the wonderful care and support they provided during her recent illness. Funeral services for Jean will be Saturday August 16, 2014 10:30 am from the Arthur F. White Funeral Home, 315 Conklin St., Farmingdale, N.Y., friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home.
