Ilion Jane C. (Hawley) Coffin, 93 of Ilion, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Mohawk Valley Healthcare in Ilion. Jane was born in Ilion on September 9th, 1920 the daughter of the late Alfred and Laura (Jones) Hawley. Jane was a lifelong resident of Ilion and was educated in the Ilion School District graduating in 1938 as Member of the Sr. Honor Society and Charter Member of the Jr. Honor Society. Following school Jane worked at Remington Rand, Sperry Rand and later at Schesch Florist. She was of the protestant faith. On June 29, 1946 she was married in Mohawk, NY to Edward L. Coffin. They were married for 40 years until his passing on July 31, 1986. Jane is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Edward Walsh of Elsemere, NY; son Jeffrey and grand-children Jennifer, Laura and Jonathan of Long Island, NY; special niece Patty Stafford and many other nieces and nephews; her special friends Mary Jory and Linda Rice of Ilion. Jane is predeceased by her sister Ormetta Jones Goodrich. The family would like to thank the second floor staff at Mohawk Valley Healthcare for their care and support of Jane. Funeral Service for Jane will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 12:00 at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego Street, Ilion, NY with Rev. Robert Wollaber officiating. Interment will be at Armory Hill Cemetery following the funeral. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral.
