Mary Beth Gallogly HERKIMER - Mary Beth Gallogly, 57, a resident of Valley Health Services, formerly of Galinsky Apartments, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown. She was born Dec. 13, 1956, in Herkimer Memorial Hospital, the daughter of Alden and Edith Gallogly, of Mohawk. She graduated from Mohawk High School and attended Herkimer County Community College. She was in the U.S. Army and received a medical discharge. She worked at Duofold and other area businesses. Mary was an extraordinary aunt, introducing her nieces and nephews to great music and movies and she was known for writing parodies for family occasions and other events. She was a member of the New Life Singers, a contemporary Christian singing group made up of family members and friends. She was a gifted writer and poet and laughed about being a chocoholic. Mary was an avid Yankee fan, had a knack for trivia and was known for her wit. Those who knew her remember her positive attitude amid her personal struggles. She is survived by her mother, Edith (Thompson) Gallogly, of Mohawk; her siblings, Brenda and J.P. Waldron, of California, Gail and Paul Whittaker, of Mohawk, Diane and Roger Dygert, of Durhamville, Chip and Shelia Gallogly, of Oneida, Robert and Robin Gallogly, of Poland, and Douglas and Jackie Gallogly, of Fort Myers, Fla.; her grandmother, Jean Thompson, of Mohawk; aunts, uncles and cousins; and many nieces and nephews, each one of them special to her; and her aunt and best friend, Pamela Thompson. She was predeceased by her father; an aunt Betty Jones and her close friends, Ray Rickard and Linda Begley. A celebration of Mary's life will be held Sunday, March 9, at Dolgeville Christian Fellowship, 3 Elm St., Dolgeville; Pastor Marvin Isam will officiate. Friends may call begining at 3 p.m. with the service to follow. Burial will take place at a later time at Mohawk Cemetery. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Dr.Brian Miller, Dr. Douglas Haas and the staff at Valley Health Services, Bassett Hospital and Little Falls Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the King's Provision (food and assistance ministry) at Dolgeville Christian Fellowship, Samaritan's Purse or the Herkimer County Humane Society.
