Nedda only once was my babysitter. I don't know why I always remembered that, since I was only 10....I remember her kindness to me and I remember she baked and decorated an Easter Bunny cake especially for me. It's something I will always remember about Nedda Gay Thomes. She will bless me in heaven, I am sure!

There is so many memories of Uncle Danny and Aunt Nedda. From the time my brother and I lived with her. To the great Thanksgiving dinners. To her dancing away at my wedding 5 years ago. All my friends, including my wife and I, were amazed by her and her love for life. She will truly be missed. I love you Aunt Nedda.

Remembering Annemarie talking about her mother over the years, many words and thoughts describing Nedda come to mind. Determined, Independent, Hard Working, Helpful, Generous, Respected and Best of All, She Would Tell You Like It Is! She always put her best foot forward, she had a vision and would make it happen, she wanted whatever cause she was supporting to be the best it could be. She was Caring and if someone was down and needed guidance she was always there to support them. She put others before herself. She loved spending time with her family in Maine and going camping, I thought it was so cute that she got her own camper and would get it where it needed to go. She made the world around her a better place and earned a beautiful place in Heaven. Sending our deepest sympathy to Annemarie, DJ, Bob and all of Nedda's extended family during this very difficult time.

I ask myself, am I better off remembering her the last time I saw her or should I go to say a final goodbye? This goodbye is even harder and hurts more than all the others. As I pray for my answer I keep getting interrupted with passing thoughts. Wow, no wonder this is so hard. She taught me to tie my shoes, how to dress, to stand up an act like a man and stop my complaining and feeling sorry for myself, to be amazed at music, to dance the only step I know, the quiet incredible beauty and peace of nature, to not dwell on my problems but know others have it worse so help them because in that way you help yourself, the meaning of money. She taught me humility by telling me "Get off your high horse", comb my hair, too not hurt others and protect the innocent when you have the ability, put me in school, the meaning of real love, the value of having a family even when you feel yours has been torn away, that your never really alone, to stand up under fire, never quit if you believe your cause is just and introduced me to Jesus. Wow, that was a ramble! Still need to decide about funeral so back to the unfinished prayers. Then abruptly I realize, she gave me my greatest gift, the one no one can take away from me, the same gift I've carried with me through thick and thin since I was 9. The prayers I'm praying now. I love you Aunt Nedda there are no words to amount to how much. You've made me who I am. A mom or Angel? to me, both.
Lord please protect her for she protected all of us our whole life.
Amen

Aunt Nedda… a beautiful beautiful soul… been missing her terribly through the years. I carry many fond memories of her and Uncle Danny in my heart. We laughed and cried, soul searched and dreamed … so many wonderful conversations and bottomless cups of micro-waved instant coffee… a friend and sister, all rolled into one… love you!

Everyone here has eloquently described Nedda as the great lady she truly was. In my mind, the words mother, loyal, compassionate, thoughtful, wise, giving, and a lover of life best describe her. She could never see the bad side of anyone or any situation. She was truly unique. I will miss our many talks and her contagious laughter. She leaves behind 3 children that have become the great people they are today bc of her. I hope she is with Dan now, bc she missed him so.

She liked to see our dogs and hopefully us too!!!
We liked seeing her at the estate sales we conducted.
