ILION Constance "Connie" Lucille Atchison Maury joined her husband Richard "Dick" Earl Maury, Sr. in restful peace on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Utica. Connie was born in Spotsylvania, Virginia on August 3, 1926, the daughter of Alphus Sterlin Atchison and Virginia (Brooks) Atchison. She was united in marriage to Richard E. Maury, Sr. on December 13, 1943 in Richmond, Virginia. Connie and Dick lived at 13 Grove Street, Ilion for 48 years prior to retiring to White Lake in Woodgate, New York and Zephyrhills, Florida. Connie was an assembler for 23 years with M.D.S. in Herkimer, New York retiring several years ago and she also worked for Doyle Knower, National Auto, Remington Rand and State Street Mill, prior to retirement. Connie loved children and was active in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, P.T.A. and was also homeroom mother. She was a member of the Ilion Rebecca Lodge. Connie and Dick were Presidents of Wesley Fellowship and also Sunday School helpers to Margaret Weiss. Connie is survived by a daughter Constance Jean Maury from Ilion, with whom Connie lived, and two grandchildren and their spouses, Scott Richard Maury and his wife, Crystal (Vorce) Maury from Clinton and Jennifer Lynn Maury and her husband, Scott MacGregor of Clinton. Connie is predeceased by her husband, Dick, her son, Richard Earl Maury, Jr., her brother, Alfred Bernard Atchison and her sister-in-law Mary Lynn (McKennon) Maury. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion with Pastor Mike Ballman officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Corner Stone Community Church, 500 Plant Street, Utica, New York 13502. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego Street, Ilion, New York.
