Shirley Willoughby, 80, of Ilion passed away Thursday December 5, 2013 at Mohawk Valley Health Care in Ilion.
Shirley was born December 15, 1932 in Mohawk, NY the daughter of the late Clarence Lyle and Emmalean Farley Trevor, and was a graduate of Ilion High School. On April 19, 1952 she was united in marriage to Robert D. Willoughby in Ilion, Bob passed away September 16, 1993.
Shirley was employed as an inspector with Remington Arms in Ilion retiring several years ago.
Shirley was a member of the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion, Women of the Moose Lodge 1010 in Ilion, and the VFW Post 502 Auxiliary.
Shirley is survived by a son and daughter in law Robert and Linda Willoughby of Ilion, two daughters and a son in law Leigh Ann Willoughby of Chicago, IL, and Cathy and William Strzelewicz of Waukegan, IL, a sister Leona Holden of Herkimer, and two sisters in law Patricia Beachard of Ilion and Doris Trevor of Mohawk also five grandchildren and one great grandchild her companion of many years Bill Burns of Ilion and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Shirley’s wishes the funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion.
Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion.
Shirley’s family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Mohawk Valley Health Care, 99 Sixth Ave., Ilion, N.Y. 13357

The Whiter Funeral Company was started in 1893 by H.A. Whiter and was originally located in Forestport, NY. Following a fire in Forestport, the family relocated in Ilion, and reopened the funeral home in the early 1900's.
