Ilion
Ronald L. Kelly, 76 of 80 E. North St. in Ilion, passed away at home with his family by his side.
Ron was born on May 19, 1937 in Utica the son of the late James and Margaret E. (Farmer) Kelly; he was a graduate of Utica Free Academy in Utica. Following school Ron served in the armed forces during the Korean Conflict, he served in both the Marines and Army. He worked for several different companies throughout his life. On December 5, 1982 he married the former Maxine Knisley in Clinton. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica with his family.
Ron is survived by his wife Maxine; three sons Ronald and David Kelly both of Herkimer and Jeff and his wife Nancy of AL; two daughters Tammy of TN and Shannon and her husband Shane Kelly of Ilion; a brother Chuck and his wife Joanna Kelly of Clinton; a sister Sharon and her husband John “Jack” Nestor of Clinton; two sister in laws Angela "Diane" Kelly of Clarks Mills, Diane Kelly of Utica and a brother in law Ken Grabeldinger of AL. He also leaves nine grandchildren, including two special grandchildren Heather Nicole Reeves and Shea Noll Kelly, and 8 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Ron is predeceased by his siblings James, Betty Loveland, Gracia “Rae" Grabeldinger, Robert and Richard.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica Fr. Joe Salerno will officiate. In keeping with Ron’s wishes there are no calling hours. Arrangements are made by the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego Street, Ilion, New York.
Ron’s family wish to thank Ann, from HOSPICE, for the wonderful care and attention given to Ron and his family.

The Whiter Funeral Company was started in 1893 by H.A. Whiter and was originally located in Forestport, NY. Following a fire in Forestport, the family relocated in Ilion, and reopened the funeral home in the early 1900's.
