Mohawk Donald E. Baylor, Sr. of Mohawk, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, October 5, 2013. Donald was born December 12, 1936 the son of the late Herman James and Sophie Unser Baylor. Don was a graduate of Mohawk Central School Class of 1955. He was united in marriage with Patricia Bala on October 30, 1958. Don held many jobs throughout his career, taking pride in his carpentry skill when he worked with Ray Johnson of Ilion, Barson’s Construction of Albany and with his sons in 3-B Construction of Mohawk. Don loved the outdoors with his children he was an avid hunter and fisherman, later in life, he enjoyed taking his grandsons fishing on Canadarago Lake. He was first and foremost a family man and was devoted to his son Jason at home, whom he enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and all of the NFL football games with. He took great pride in his retirement painting for his niece, Dolly, with her slate crafts. Don is survived by his wife, Pat of Mohawk, his sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Lauren Baylor, Steven and Linda Baylor and Jason of Mohawk; his daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Alan Wiernicki of El Paso, Texas; seven grandchildren, Donald, III of Tully, Bré, Mandi and her husband, Justin White, and James of Mohawk, Alex, Lucy and Julia Wiernicki of El Paso; three great-grand-daughters, Adriana, Lauryn and Sofia. Don is also survived by a brother and a sister-in-law, Richard and Eleanor Baylor and four sisters and two brother-in-laws, Patti and Ken Cook, Jean and Robert Hyde of Mohawk, Susie Hopper of Endicott and Theresa Marko of Herkimer and his sister-in-law, Marion Baylor of Herkimer. He is also survived by two brother and sister-in-laws, Leo and Pat Bala of Ilion and Bill and Joanne Bala of Woodstock, Illinois and one sister-in-law Sylvia Bala of Herkimer. Don is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents, by his brothers, Herman (Sonny) and Albert and his sisters, Kathleen (Chick) Phillips and Adelaide Wollaber. Friends may call on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego Street, Ilion with a funeral service immediately following at 7:00 P.M.
