Ilion Robert D. Treen, 72, of 5 Sunset Ave., passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Little Falls Hospital. Bob was born in Herkimer on August 15, 1940 the son of the late James and Audrey Madrid Treen, he attended Ilion High School and on January 7, 1961 was united in marriage with Ann Minosh. Bob was employed as a truck driver with Oneida Motor Freight until they went out of business then with Rite Aid and Wonder bread until his retirement. Bob attended the Herkimer Pentecostal Church and was a member of Teamsters Local 182. He was a former Pop Warner football coach trained his son Jon in boxing which culminated in Jon becoming N.Y.S. Golden Glove Champion in 1984, he was an avid weight lifter and was noted as the strongest man in the Mohawk Valley, he also enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling and was an avid fan of Ilion Football.. Bob, above all, was a faithful husband and father and roll model. Bob is survived by his wife Ann, two sons and their wives Robert S. and Suzanne of New Hartford and Jon and Vanessa of Ilion, two daughters Rosann Treen and Nadine and her husband Dan Basler all of Ilion, his grandchildren Robert Jr. and his wife Abby, Christie Treen, Maria Treen, Jon R. Treen, Kiara Febres and Christina Basler, two sisters Mella Brown of Newport and Edith Treen of Herkimer. Bob is also survived by his in laws Joe and Barbara Minosh of Frankfort, Sam Minosh of Ocala, Fl., Florence Treen of West Winfield, plus close friends Dave and Mary Lou Jeffalone of Frankfort and his cousin Richard Treen and his wife Marie of Herkimer also several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his sister Corlie Lytwynic, two brothers Fred Treen and James Treen and a granddaughter Kianessa Febres. Bob’s family would like to thank his sister Edith who walked up every day to the Folt’s Home to care for him, the Herkimer Dialysis staff for their care and kindness during his eight years of treatment also Dr. Wassel, Dr. Casternova and MOVAC. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 11am, from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc. 100 Otsego St., Ilion with Pastor Joseph Chamberlin officiating.
