Ilion Date Line Winifred M. (Winnie) Haynes, 92, of 80 East North Street, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the Mohawk Valley Health Care, Ilion. Winnie was born March 25, 1921 in Edmeston, NY the daughter of the late Homer and Jannie Demico Clark, and received her education in the Edmeston Schools. On March 6, 1942 Winnie went to work as the switchboard operator with Remington Arms, where she was the voice of Remington, until her retirement on December 31, 1980. In 1969 she was united in marriage to Perry S. Haynes in Ilion, Perry passed away on September 11, 1973. Winnie attended of the Reformed Church in Mohawk, where she was very involved with church activities, she was Past President of the Prindle Apartments Resident Association and while the Mohawk Valley General Hospital Guild was active Winnie would knit and crochet for the patients. Winnie is survived by several step children, grand children and nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial service to be held on Tuesday May 28, 2013 at 10:30AM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion with Pastor Brian Engel officiating, interment will follow in the Oak View Cemetery, Frankfort. In keeping with Winnie’s wishes there will be no calling hours. Because of Winnie’s love for cats, friends are asked to consider memorial donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society, P.O. Box 73 Mohawk, NY 13407 in Winnie’s memory. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home. Winnie was a loving and caring person who will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
