I had a longstanding legal relationship with Mr. Applegate and found him to be one of the nicest and most helpful attorneys I had ever met. He was my parents' attorney before they passed away and they likewise were very fond of him. I was so very sorry to learn today of his passing and will keep his family, friends and colleagues in my prayers.

One of the photos on my bullitin board is of Stephen and Bobby with Father Withington standing next to the small shrine outside of Saint Augustines church in Ilion.I beleive this was taken on the day my sister Lee was married in September 1964.The boys were part of the service and are resplendent in their acolyte finery.Stephen and Father Withington look duly serious...but Bobby has just a hint of a devilish grin, and I think that captures him perfectly!RIP Bobby.Lisa

Bob was my very first friend during our first week of law school in September of 1976. What followed were 36 and 1/2
years of one of my 5 closest friendships of my life. He always had a joke to whisper into my ear during boring law school lectures. Whenever tragedy struck in my own life, Bob was the first person I called. He drove me to to the ariport when my mother died during exam week in 1979. When happy things happened, he was also one of the first people I called. He was the touchstone of my life and above all he loved his family more than anything. I was fortunate to be able to see him at least once a year duing my many trips across the state and I am so glad we had lunch together on March 24 of this year. I called him on his birthday for my annual rendition of "Happy Birthday " and we talked of many things. The next time I pick up the phone to call Bob, I will have to remember that he is not there to answer and will have to smile through the tears. My love and condolences to Kathleen and the kids, Mary and Brady and Steve and their families. I will see you all on Friday and Saturday.

I was just so saddened to hear of Bob's passing. I work in the Real Property Tax Office and he was a frequent visitor to the Tax Mapping Dept. Everyone in the office thought so highly of him. He had a gentle spirit and a great sense of humor. He always seemed to make your day. My prayers are with his family, friends, co-workers and many more. He certainly has earned his place in Heaven even if we were not ready for him to go. But I do know one thing for sure, he is the only attorney who will advise God and God will listen. Rest peacefully, my friend. You will be missed more than you can possibly know. Robin Shoen - Herkimer County Real Propety.

I am sorry to say I have not been in enough contact with Bob and Kathleen in recent years. Regardless, my memories of great times spent with them years ago make the news of Bob's passing just so painful. He was an extraordinary guy, as is Kathleen, and I'm sure their kids are as well. I am sorry to say I cannot be there this weekend, not in person, but I will be there in heart and soul. As Yankee fans Bob and I will always be united, and as men with fond memories and common friendships we'll cherish forever Bob and his family will be in my heart forever. Bob was truly one of the dearest persons I have had the pleasure of knowing in my life. God bless Bob, Kathleen, their children and their families.

To the Applegate family,
Please accept my deepest condolences in the loss of your husband, father and brother. This community has suffered a great loss. I am not at all surprised at the number of on-line condolences sent in for Bob. Compassionate, kind, well respected, honorable, witty. Bob was all that and more. On Saturday, April 27th, Bob and his wife and Mary Applegate-Boyd and her husband were scheduled to be at my brother Larry's surprise birthday party in Maine. What a great reunion it would have been. Now, there will be no party. Instead, my brother and I and his wife will be at Hamilton College Chapel saying good-bye to Bob. How sad is that? May God give you strength in these difficult days ahead. And may Bob's children now very proudly carry on their father's legacy. God Bless you all.

I had the pleasure of working with Bob at the law firm in Ilion, and becoming a friend. There are not enough words to express what Bob meant to those with whom he came in contact with, from his beloved family to his many clients and contacts in so many organizations. Brilliant attorney, witty, generous, kind and caring...just a few, but not enough. I wonder if he took his Bankers Box with him? God certainly has gained a capable scribe.
