Mohawk Date Line Edna Irene Martin, 82, of 3509 St Rt. 168, Mohawk, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Bassett Health Care, Cooperstown. She was born September 1, 1930 in the Town of German Flatts and the daughter of the late Frederick and Edna Brady Eberlein, and received her education in the Mohawk Schools. On May 8, 1948 she was united in marriage to James S. Martin at the Mohawk Methodist Church. Edna was employed as a clerk with the Real Property office at Herkimer County retiring several years ago. Edna was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church Mohawk, and an active member of the church Altar Society and the Episcopal Church women. She was also involved with several organizations thru out the valley including the Mohawk Chapter 82 of the Eastern Star where she was past matron and a very active member for over 50 years. She was also was a member and past president of Mohawk Valley Chapter of Colonial Dames of the XVII Century and a 15 year member of the New York State Chapter. She was a 25 year member and past Regent of Col Marinus Willett chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, a ten year member of the Minnowbrook Garden Club of Mohawk where she received several blue ribbons for her arrangements. Edna is survived by her husband Jim, two sons and a daughter in law Jim Jr. and Lynne Martin of Mohawk, Jon Martin of Mohawk, a brother and sister in law Donald and Arlene Eberlein of Napa Valley, CA, a sister and brother in law Phyliss and Art Muller of St. Johnsville, grandchildren Andrew and John Martin, she was predeceased by a brother and sister in law Frederick and Erma Eberlein, and a sister and brother in law Dorothy and Merton Comstock. Funeral services for Edna will be held on Saturday April 20, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Grace Episcopal Church, East Main Street, Mohawk with Fr. William Wheeler officiating, interment will follow in the Mohawk Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 Friday April 19, 2013 at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion. The Eastern Star Valley Chapter 82 will conduct services on Friday at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.
