Schuyler Kenneth E. Finster 87 of 416 Millers Grove Road, Schuyler passed away Friday December 21, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. Ken was born April 4, 1925 in Herkimer, the son of the late Roy and Blanche Richard Finster, and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On November 16, 1946 Ken was united in marriage to the former Mildred R. Robbins, she passed away January 24, 1989. Ken worked delivering milk for Herb Dodge for a short time before starting his career along with his family at the Finster Farm on Millers Grove Road in Schuyler. Ken was a member of the East Schuyler Methodist Church and served as Trustee, a life member of the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Dept, ASCS for 19 years, a former assessor for the Town of Schuyler for several years, chairman of the Board of Appeals in Schuyler for many years. In his earlier years of farming Ken was a member of the Eastern Milk Producers, and the Herkimer County Farm Bureau. Ken also was very active in the formation of the board that over saw the Milk Production in Herkimer County, and the formation of the Herkimer County Dairy Princess program, where he served as treasurer. He also served as chairman of the Agriculture Extension Board for many years, Ken was active with the Agway Board of Directors for several years, he was also active with the 4-H group in Schuyler, Ken enjoyed hunting with the Binkowski Family, farming with his family and friends, and talking with people in general. Ken is survived by a son Richard and a daughter Jean both of Schuyler, also several nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Ken will be held on Wednesday December 26, 2012 at 4:00 pm from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion, with Rev. Lyle Robison officiating. Interment will be in the East Schuyler Cemetery in the spring. Friends may call from 1:00 – 4:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends are asked to consider memorials to the Schuyler Ambulance, the East Schuyler Methodist Church or ones favorite charity in Ken’s memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
