Obituary of Mary A. Corbett

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frankfort On December 19, Mary Agnes Waldron Corbett quietly slipped into the arms of the Lord with her family by her side. She was born on March 12, 1925 to Genevieve and James Waldron. Mom resided most of her life in Frankfort, NY where she attended school with her 8 siblings and married Edward Joseph Corbett in 1946. Her life was centered around her family and was evident in both the love she showed and received from her children: Kathleen and John Duggan, Colleen and Roger Snyder, Ann and Charles Brewer, Patricia and Andy March, Edward Francis Corbett, and John and Suzanne Corbett. She is survived by her sister Ann Burton and brother Father John Waldron, and many nieces and nephews. After graduation, she chose to further her education at Utica School of Commerce. Her early career included office employment at Pratt Industries, Union Fork & Hoe, and later as a library aid at Reese Road Elementary School. Mom's Irish Catholic heritage was a source of pride and reflected in how she lived her life caring for family and friends. Many of her interests included attending to her flowers, sewing and volunteering her time as a reading mentor, at the food bank, church activities and Mohawk Valley Hospital. She had great love for her grandchildren Matthew and Betsy Harris, Courtney Brewer, Will Brewer, Aaron Corbett and great granddaughter Genevieve Harris. Join us in celebrating mom's life at a mass of Christian burial at the Annunciation Church in Ilion, NY on Saturday, Dec 22, at 11AM, which will be presided over by Father John Waldron assisted by Deacon James Bower. Family will be receiving visitors at the church 1 hour prior to mass at Annunciation Church. Interment will be at MT. Oliviet Cemetery in Frankfort, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to St. Jude's Children Hospital, Hospice, or to the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers. Family would like to express our gratitude to the Helping Hands, Steuben County Office for the Aging, and Care First Hospice caregivers for their role in mom's life. Your compassionate care and support will never be forgotten. The passing of a soul leaves a heartache no one can heal; but memories of a mother's love no one can steal. Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. On line condolences may be sent by going to www.whiter-hendrix.com.
