HERKIMER Richard Linus Dutcher, 94 a resident of Country Manor, passed away Thursday September 6, 2012 at Little Falls Hospital. Dick was born April 26, 1918 in Dennison Corners the son of the late Linus and Grace (Williamson) Dutcher, and received his education in the Mohawk School District. Dick was a proud veteran serving in the US Army during WWII. He saw service in Algeria, French Morocco, Italy and southern France. . Dick was employed as an auto mechanic with Benson Ford in Ilion and Smith Brothers in Ilion. Dick is survived by a son and daughter in law Ronald and Mary Dutcher of Ilion, a daughter and son in law Joyce and Anthony DeSilva of Menden, MA, two brothers Fred Dutcher of Utica, and Carroll and Ginger Dutcher of Mohawk, two sisters Kathryn Wells of Herkimer, and Eleanor Pederson of Ilion, four grandchildren; several great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by his brothers Thomas and Francis (Skip) Dutcher. Funeral services for Mr. Dutcher will be held on Sunday September 9, 2012 at 3:00 PM from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion with Chaplin Kenneth Palmer of the Mohawk Fire Dept. officiating, interment will follow in the Armory Hill Cemetery Ilion. Friends may call from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Friends are asked to consider memorial donations to the Herkimer County Country Manor Donation Fund, 301 N Washington St. Herkimer, NY 13350; envelopes are available at the funeral home.
