Schuyler date line John “Jack” D. Dempster 76 of 350 Mc Kennen Road, Frankfort passed Wednesday August 29, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. Jack was born May 9, 1936 in Freeport, PA the son of the late George W and Agatha Pflueger Dempster. On May 15, 1957 Jack was united in marriage to the former Jane Grant in Syracuse. Jack was employed as a Biology teacher at the Ilion Central High School, retiring in 1993. Jack was a member of the Oak Hill Free Methodist Church in Herkimer, and the National Rifle Association. Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years Jane, two sons and daughters in law Robert and Daniela Dempster of Rochester, NY, Gary and Maribeth Dempster of Schuyler, a daughter Janice Dempster of West Seneca, NY, a brother and sister in law David and Dorothy Dempster of Jacksonville, Fl, his four grandchildren Katherine, Kyle, Luke and John Michael, also several nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his parents George and Agatha Dempster, a sister Katherine Chapman and her husband Laurimere Chapman. Funeral services for Jack will be held on Saturday September 1, 2012 at 12 noon from the Oak Hill Free Methodist Church, West German Street, Herkimer with Pastor Chris Schumske officiating , assisted by Dick Leonard a family friend. Friends may call from 10:30 until the time of the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. Friends are asked to consider memorials to the church for a scholarship in Jack’s memory. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion.
