Ilion
Helen Sestito White, 90, of Ilion passed away on Sunday July 15, 2012 at the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center.
Helen was born on May 12, 1922 in Utica the daughter of the late Anthony and Louise (DeNauro) Sestito. She was educated in Mohawk and was employed as an inspector with Bertelle Mfg. in Mohawk until her retirement in 1974.
On July 24, 1943 she married Stewart F. White, he passed away on August 29, 1980.
Helen is survived by her son Joseph of Ilion; granddaughters Theresa and Kerri as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Helen is pre deceased by a son Stewart Jr.; sisters Marie Duesler and Rita Vedder, a brother Joseph Sestito and her daughter in law Barbara J. (Deyle) White.
A memorial service for Helen will be held on Thursday July 19, 2012 at 8pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. Deacon James Bower will officiate. Friends may call on Thursday from 5pm until the time of the funeral and are asked to consider memorial donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society.
Helen’s family would like to thank, Dr.Valdamodi, Butala and Baht, also the staff on the 3rd floor of Mohawk Valley Health Care for the care given her over the past several years.

The Whiter Funeral Company was started in 1893 by H.A. Whiter and was originally located in Forestport, NY. Following a fire in Forestport, the family relocated in Ilion, and reopened the funeral home in the early 1900's.
