Mohawk Date Line Lillian M. Smith, 74, of 115 Rock Hill Road, Mohawk passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 at her home. She was born August 28, 1937 in Lowville, NY the daughter of the late Lewis and Augusta Cornell Bacon and received her education in the Ilion Central School System. On April 12, 1957 Lillie was united in marriage to Walter Smith in Ilion. Lillie was employed as a supervisor with Remington Arms in Ilion, retiring in 1971 and since then has been a clerk at the Factory Store located in Mohawk. Lillie was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Ilion, where she served as a Deacon of the Church, and walked in the Relay for Life each year. Lillie is survived by her husband Walt, a son James and his wife Erin Smith of Little Falls, a daughter Pam Latt of Herkimer, a brother Louis Bacon of Utica, a sister Louise Zehr of Carthage, her grand children Courtney Witt , Dustin Jennette, Walter, Matthew, Jolee and Bailee Smith, her great grandchildren Selina Des Grusiellers, and Thomas Walter Smith, also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Walter Jr. in 2011, a sister Audrey Dellas and a brother Howard Bacon. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Tuesday May 1, 2012 at 6:00 PM from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion with Rev. Victor McKusick officiating.
