West Winfield Blanche M. Mergenthaler, 88, formerly of 156 Berberick Road, West Winfield now a resident at Mohawk Valley Health Care in Ilion passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at St Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. She was born October 31, 1923 in Utica, the daughter of the late Merrall and Bertha Miller Reid, was educated in the Brookfield School and attended B.O.C.E.S.. Blanche was married to her beloved husband Harold Mergenthaler on June 27, 1942 in the North Columbia Church, Harold passed away July 19, 2003. She was employed as an LPN at the Mohawk Valley General Hospital in Ilion for several years, retiring in 1976. Blanche was a member of the North Columbia Church and the Federated Church in West Winfield, a former member of the Royal Neighbors of America, and the Home Bureau. Blanche is survived by a daughter in law Christine Mergenthaler of Ilion, a son in law Jan (Johnny) Ond rako of West Winfield, eight grand children and 15 great grand children, she was predeceased by her son Thomas L. Mergenthaler, a daughter Barbara Ondrako, and a grandson Scott Ondrako. Funeral Services for Mrs. Mergenthaler will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 5:00 PM from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion with Rev. Hans Drews officiating, Interment will be in the Dennison Corners Cemetery in the spring. Friends may call Saturday January 7th from 3:00 until 5:00 at the funeral home.
