Frankfort-New Hartford Lucille Dempsey Stevens, 97 of the Presbyterian Home formerly of Frankfort. Passed away on Thursday September 3, 2009 in New Hartford. Lucille was born on June 30, 1912 in Herkimer the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Murphy) Grainger. She was educated in Ilion schools and was employed at G.E. and in the offices of the Ted Fox agency and the Brock Agency, retiring several years ago. Lucille was united in marriage to William J. Dempsey in April of 1937; he passed away in May of 1958. In 1972 she married Harold Stevens who passed away in 1981. Lucille was a member of The Church of The Annunciation in Ilion, the Alter Rosary Society, the Christ Child Society at St. John's in New Hartford, she also did volunteer work throughout the area. Lucille is survived by her two sons William and his wife Joyce Dempsey of Ilion and Jack and his wife Annette Dempsey of New Hartford, a daughter Mary and her husband Milton McFee of Naples FL. , seven grand children Deborah Taylor, Cindy and Arnold Chapel, Brian Dempsey, Jason and Erin Dempsey, Nate and Ann McFee, John Dempsey and Maureen and David Frazer, three great grand children Arnold Chapel Jr., and Connor and Matthew Dempsey. She also leaves several nephews and cousins. Lucille was predeceased by a brother Edward Grainger and sister Gertrude Sokolowski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated TODAY September 5, 2009 at 11:00 am at The Church of The Annunciation in Ilion. Father Alfred Lamanna will officiate; he will be assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will follow at Mt. Oliviet Cemetery in Frankfort. In keeping with Lucille's wishes there are no calling hours. Lucille's family wish to thank the staff at the Presbyterian Home; especially Dr. Stath and Tom Lorenz Spiritual Advisor for the care and compassion during Lucille's stay. Friends are asked to consider memorial donations to Catholic Charities, 61 West St., Ilion, envelopes are available at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. Ilion.
