I went to IHS with Mary(75). Mr. C was one of my favorite teachers. Deepest Sympathies to his entire family. I kept in touch with Mr. C over the years and will always remember the time that Mary Pat and I took him to the Grand Canyon for his 80th birthday. Till his last days he would remind me of the hilarious railway ride we took on that trip. Great laughs! He kept his dry sense of humor till the end. His family can be proud to have had such a good man as a father. So sorry for your loss.

I was also with Mary in IHS's Class of '75. A good teacher will not only educate, but will also inspire a student beyond the end of the classroom instruction.
Mr. Malcolm Clark, English, inspired me to keep writing all these years. Likewise, Mr. C. gave me an interest in our local history. I will never be as knowledgeable as he was about our valley, yet I have found great pleasure in researching and photographing places we pass every day and think little of the historical significance they hold.
Thank you, Mr.C., for enlightening me with your knowledge of the world around me. My condolences to the family; may it comfort you to know that he touched as many minds as he did hearts.

Dearest Dad: It is never a good time for God to take you home because selfishly I want you here forever! Words cannot express how much you mean to me and how difficult my life will be without you in it. I am devastated you are no longer around to pick up the phone, tell me a joke or lend a listening ear. I love you to the depth of my soul. My only comfort is knowing mom met you at the gates of heaven with open arms and family all around. You were the best dad, best friend and the best gift in my life. Rest in peace dad. I'll love you forever and beyond...Pat xoxoxoox

Dad,
It is so difficult to know that you are gone but I know in my heart that you are happy and healthy again and that brings me such joy! I can just imagine you and mom dancing together like old times. You left such a big impression on this world. And on me, too. In the words of an old quote I once read..."you were a tall man who cast a long shadow."
I will love you all the days of my life dad.
Your shadow,
Elizabeth

Mr. C, I never cared much for history until you entered my life. You made learning so much fun that I still remember your funny story of Chester Gillette, a tennis racket, and Big Moose Lake.
To Mary and the rest of the Cunningham family, my sincerest condolences. Your father inspired many students with his wit and wisdom. Thankfully, his memory lives on!

Mr. C was a fantastic teacher and inspired many to always do their best. As a kid, I always thought it was "cool" to live near the teachers I had for class. Kids never got the upper hand, but parents always knew things before the kids confessed, wonder how? My deepest condolences to family, rest in peace Mr. C

Dad,
I'll miss our phone calls, your sage advice, your great humor and our long talks solving the world's problems. You were my hero and I was blessed to have you as my father for 50 years. You brought such comfort and stability to our family, and that will be hard to replace. But you also gave us the gift of your tremendous strength and wisdom so when that day finally came when you were called home, you went with the peace of knowing that your kids are strong enough to carry on and lead good lives as you taught us. It won't be the same here without you, but I will always treasure all that you have given me in life and will continue to give me in your passing. I am selfishly sad that you are gone, but I am happy to know that you are free of sickness and of all the worries of this world. Enjoy your reward in heaven with Mom and your family and friends. Save a spot for me someday. I love you Dad.
Your son, Tom

"Honor thy Father and thy Mother."
Dad and Mom... when times were tough, you always felt you were a burden.
You were not. Far from it.
I felt nothing but joy and warmth and comfort from being in your presence whether near or far (via video chat). To share with you both the ups and downs of my life and that of my own family was special to me. Your advice I held dear. Your laughter lifted me up. Your sadness was my sadness. Your hopes and dreams inspired so many of my own. The torch you carried in life will never be extinguished because I will do my best to inspire others like you did me. As teachers you touched so many lives beyond those of your own family. I still hear from former students today who say how much you meant to them... how much you taught them...how much you inspired them. You were respected and admired by all. One thing that always stands out is your pride regarding your greatest accomplishment: raising five kids. On countless occasions you would say "Mr or Mrs. so-and-so said what a fine family we have." Both you and Mom would beam with pride every time such an unsolicited comment would come your way. You left your mark on us and you taught us how to be and how to live out in the world... to treat others the way you wanted to be treated, to respect others, to be kind, generous and caring... to be loving. You taught us well and we will carry on the light of love you've left burning inside of us.
I love you Mom and Dad... and miss you more than I could ever have imagined. There will be a day in time when we will meet again, and it will be glorious.
With love to you both forever,
Your #1 and/or #2 son depending on the day(!)
Mike

, David. The poet William Wordsworth noted, The world is too much with us. I agree that our legacy suolhd not consist of whether we own a second home, belong to a country club, have a list of 300 clients, or get interviewed by the Wall Street Journal. The real measure of our lives suolhd indeed be the depth of the relationships we have established in our family, friendship circle, community, and beyond. And I'd add a spiritual relationship, too.
