Herkimer Charles Edward Eldred, 65, of Herkimer passed away, after a brief illness, on May 13, 2011 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Utica, where he received excellent care. Charlie was born in Ilion on June 18, 1945, the third child of Albert H. and Norma V. (Hyney) Eldred. Charlie did carpentry work, furniture refinishing and many other jobs throughout his life. He loved his children, grand children and his faithful cat, Odin. Charlie leaves three sons, Charles L. and his wife Brandy, David J. and John H. and his wife Nicole all of Herkimer. His sister Norma Smith of Ilion and two brothers Albert "Sonny" and his wife Mary of Richfield Springs and George of Mohawk. He also leaves his aunts and uncles Carol Gregg of Wampsville and Sandra and Glenn Sweet of Sauquoit. He also leaves his grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends throughout the area. He was pre deceased by his parents, grandparents and an Uncle Roger Gregg. Funeral service for Charlie will be held on Wednesday May 18, 2011 at 1pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion, Pastor Eugene Kipper will officiate, and interment will be in the Millers Mills Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, at the funeral home, from 11 am until the time of the funeral. On line condolences may be sent by going to www.whiter-hendrix.com.
