Frankfort Joseph H. Pickett Sr., 91 of 1527 Cedarville Rd. in Frankfort, passed away on Monday January 10, 2011 in Zephyrhills, FL. Joe was born on August 24, 1919 in Frankfort the son of the late Hennan and Ella (Whalen) Pickett, and he was educated in Ilion Schools. Joe served with the Army Air Corp during WWII. On February 14, 1942 Joe married the former Genevieve "Jennie" Robertson in Ilion, she passed away on May 2, 1990. Joe and his wife Jennie owned and operated the Maple Crest Golf Course, he was also employed as a supervisor in Univac until his retirement. He was a member of the Church of The Annunciation in Ilion, the Mohawk American Legion, Ilion Moose Lodge #1010, the Ilion Knights of Columbus and the Zephyrhills Elks. Joe is survived by his loving companion Trudy Blackwell; his sons Joseph Jr.; Paul and his companion Mary Lagase; John and Debra all of Ilion; a daughter Mary and her husband Michael Massaro of E. herkimer; a brother William and his wife Shirley of Ilion; a sister Margaret and her husband Joseph Dephtrous of Watertown and sister in law Ann Pickett of Mohawk. Joe also leaves his grandchildren Carol Sue Platt, Kathy Jo Pickett, William Carpenter, Linda Carpenter, Roxanne Murphy, John Pickett Jr., Jeff Pickett, Michael Massaro Jr., Angela Lyon, Michelle Gilbert, Beth Lyon, Lori Gray, Colleen Seymour, Michele Pickett and Jackie Foley and many great and great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother and sister Jack and Mary Pickett, a great grandson Todd Pickett and a daughter in law Gail Pickett. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday January 18, 2011 at 10 am at The Church of the Annunciation in Ilion, the Very Rev. Anthony Barratt will officiate assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in the spring in the Kinne Cemetery in the Tn. of Litchfield. Friends may call on Monday January 17, 2011 from 4-8pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion and are asked to consider memorial donations to the Joe and Jennie Pickett Open to benefit HOSPICE, envelopes are available at the funeral home.
