Betty Jane Anne Broadbent Bruce, born on June 6, 1953 and a resident of Newport for several years, passed away peacefully at MVHS-St. Luke’s Campus on September 15, 2022 at 69 years old. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be truly missed by all her family and friends. Betty Jane Anne was married to Larry Roy Moore in 1972 and he predeceased her in 1997. Betty Jane got remarried to Claude Bruce, Sr on May 6, 2006. They were married for 16 years. She worked at Daniel Greens for 20 years and then Lacelles Lab for 10 years, retiring in 2007. Betty Jane was predeceased by her parents, Betty and Glen Broadbent; her son Larry M. Moore, Jr. In 2010; and Katelyn Sweet in 2010. She is survived by her husband, Claude Bruce, Sr.; her children, Betty Jane Moore, and Steven Glen Moore; grandchildren, Natasha, Brittany, Savannah, Collon, Justin, Douglas, and William; great grandchildren, Philip, Jackson, and Natashas daughter; stepchildren, Christina, Steven, Rosetta, Heather, Pat, Christopher, David, Allan, and Claude, Jr.; eight brothers and sisters; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Betty Jane’s family would like to tell their mom and grandma, “We love you”. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2022, from 11:00-12:00 at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St., Ilion. A service will commence at the conclusion of visitation with Pastor Smith. Interment will be at Armory Hill Cemetery at the conclusion of the service.
