Ilion - Ethel Louise (Wheelock) Lupinski, beloved mother, sister, aunt and wife, born April 8th 1931 was called to heaven, October 29th 2021 to reunite with her husband, Stanley and watch over many special friends and family. Ethel was the first born of Bertha and Donald Wheelock, and 1 of 9 Wheelock children between them. She grew up in the town of Litchfield on the family farm, chose a path of Nursing and spent 35 wonderful years as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the former Mohawk Valley General Hospital in the maternity ward, Ilion, NY. Always proud of her calling, she would recount the numerous babies she helped bring into this world, being a part of the parent and child journey from birth always brought a smile to her face. You could always find her with a cup of tea, a journal and the always available cookie to snack on when you were visiting with Ethel at their Ilion Gorge home. A devout Catholic, Ethel also spent many years involved in Annunciation Church and the Catholic Daughters of the America’s. Ethel and Stanley raised 4 boys in a perfect country setting of the Ilion Gorge. They spent time gardening and building a beautiful home for their family for the next 50 years. Brian and his wife Cheryl now reside in Sylvania, GA, Steven and his wife Lisa reside in Raleigh, NC, Gregory resides in Chittenango, NY and James and Michelle reside in Ladson, SC. Ethel enjoyed spending time with her 8 grandchildren, Alyssa Lupinski and wife Amy, Matthew Lupinski, Sarah Lupinski, Megan Lupinski, Richard Hopkinson and wife Deanna, George Hopkinson and wife, Heather, Andrew Baker and wife, Emily and Patrick Baker, whenever she could while also having 5 great-grandchildren in the family. Ethel is predeceased by her husband, Stanley (2.3.18); her brother, Donald Wheelock; brother in law, John Alberts and sister in law, Agnus Yuskavage. She is survived by her sister, Esther Hays and husband Edward of New Hartford, NY; brother, Ward and wife, Audrey Wheelock, Clinton, NY; sister, Beryl Evans; brother, Lyle and wife, Gloria Wheelock; brother, Bernard and wife, Olivia Wheelock; brother, Leon Wheelock and sister, Donna and husband Darryl Gillette; brother in law, Paul Lupinski and wife, Mary; sister in law, Mary Durgee and sister in law, Julie Tomasik. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 5-7 pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. Ilion, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in The Church of the Annunciation, 50 West St. in Ilion with Fr. Paul Catena, officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarville Cemetery.
