Ilion - Christopher William Newtown, 15, of Ilion, passed away unexpectedly on Friday October 1, 2021. Christopher was born on June 5, 2006 in New Hartford, the son of Carmen and Kristina (Fisher) Newtown. He was presently a 10th grader at Central Valley Central School. He was a member of the National Honor Society and on the Unified Basketball Team. Christopher enjoyed playing Xbox online with friends, golfing with friends and family, and riding four wheelers. Christopher is survived by his parents, Carmen and Kristina Newtown of Ilion; his siblings, Brooke Lynn Newtown of Herkimer, Amber Leigh Newtown of Ilion and Derek Bowie Newtown of Ilion; his grandparents, Larry and Kathlyn Fisher of Munnsville and Paula Cooper of Herkimer; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 2:00-4:00 at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of his family in Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion. The Herkimer County Sheriff's Department will be meeting at 1:45 PM on Sunday at the funeral home to pay their respects to Christopher's family. Please be aware that the receiving line for the general public will not begin until 2:00 PM and we ask that you please remain in your vehicles until members of the Sheriff's Department have paid their respects. All other members of Law Enforcement will be meeting at 3:30 PM to pay their respects. The receiving line will be halted briefly at at 3:30 PM to accommodate those who may be on duty.
