Obituary of Margaret Wright Vivyan

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ilion With heavy hearts, the family of Margaret (Wright) Vivyan said goodbye to her on Friday, February 26, 2021. She was our rock. Her love for us, and our love for her, knew no bounds. She will be dearly missed and remembered every single day. Margaret was born on April 3, 1930 to her loving parents, Charles and Marietta (Turner) Wright. Margaret married the love of her life, Gordon (Jim) Vivyan on April 15, 1950. They shared almost 65 years of adventures. Margaret and Jim raised five children. They were always there for their children and later their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Margaret and Jim went to every game, concert, play and recital to cheer their loved ones on. Margaret and Jim loved to travel. They took many trips in their van and R.V. Camping was a favorite pastime for the whole family. We all loved the many hikes and campfires we shared. Margaret also loved her swimming pool and many happy hours were spent there. Her grandchildren and great- grandchildren loved it, too! Margaret also loved going on family trips, particularly vacations to Delaware. Margaret worked for many years in the cafeterias of Ilion Central Schools. When they were not traveling, Margaret and Jim spent many joyful hours with their grandchildren. Margaret belonged to the Methodist Church in Ilion. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her son, Mark, and her great-grandson, A.J. They were always in her thoughts and she missed them very much. Margaret is survived by her children, her daughters-in-law and son-in-law, Susan Vivyan, Joe and Deb McCarthy, Kevin and Terri Vivyan, Robin Vivyan and Kelly Vivyan. She also leaves her grandchildren who adored her, Michele and Chris Hinkley, Jenn Vivyan, Krysten and Shane Dutch, Joe McCarthy, Kyle McCarthy and fiancée, Courtney Jones, Wes Vivyan, Emily Vivyan, Sara Vivyan and fiancée, Aaron Gorton. She was GiGi to Mark, Elizabeth and Gracie Dutch, Vivyan and Emilia Hinkley and Scarlet Gorton. They had a great time with their GiGi and spent many hours with her. Margaret is also survived by a special sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and William White and their daughter, Paula (Leo) Sterns. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she thought very highly of . Margaret will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. The family would like to thank Hospice for all of their care and support. In keeping with Margaret’s wishes, a graveside service will be held in the spring at a date and time to be announced. Please consider a donation in Margaret’s memory to the Mark Vivyan Memorial Scholarship Fund, which can be sent to the Central Valley High School Administrative Office.
