Mohawk Susan Swiech, 63, of 33 Green St., passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica. Susan was born on March 11, 1947, in Herkimer the daughter of Walter and Ruth Pierce Petrie; she graduated from Rome High School and received her L.P.N. certification from St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing. On October 26, 1980 she and Philip Swiech were united in marriage in Las Vegas, N.V. Susan had a varied interest in crafts and arts and used her talents in pursuing her passion. Susan is survived by her husband and best friend Phil, her parents Chief Master Sgt. Walter and Ruth Petrie of Syracuse, a daughter Wendi Travis of Ilion, two sons Anthony Carlomusto of Ilion and John Swiech of Mohawk, a brother Thomas Petrie of Syracuse two sisters and brothers in law Kathleen and Jim Mancuso of Niskayuna and Pam and Steve Coulter of Syracuse also her grandchildren Alexis, William and Anna Travis and two furry shadows Ricco and Alexander, she was predeceased by a brother Leon a sister Fay and her best friend Diane Truax. Funeral services will be held 3pm Thursday, July 1, 2010 at The Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St. Ilion with Susan's cousin Peter Krug officiating. Friends may call Wednesday June 30th from 5-8pm and Thursday July 1, 2010 from 1-3 pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home.
