Mohawk Esther E. Miller, 94, formerly of 8 Fulmer St. in Mohawk passed away on Sunday April 4, 2010 at St. Luke's Home in New Hartford. Esther was born on November 25, 1915 in Mohawk the daughter of Fredrick and Martha (Spur) Jackson. She was a graduate of Mohawk Schools and was employed as a bookkeeper with the Mohawk Municipal Commission until her retirement. Esther married Leland N. Gage in 1935, he passed away in 1959 she then married Leon C. Miller, who passed away on, April 18, 1996. Esther was a member of the Mohawk Methodist Church, the Mohawk Methodist Eveready Class, the Mohawk American Legion and the Zonta Club.. Esther is survived by her sons Leland and his wife Diane Gage of Reamstown, PA, and James and his wife Winona Gage of Herkimer, a daughter in law, Connie Gage of Mohawk, a brother Rev. Frederick Jackson of Oneida, eight grand children and several great grandchildren. She is pre deceased by a son David, a brother Beryl and sisters Lucia, Naiomi, and Francis. Funeral services for Esther will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion with Rev. Robert Wollaber, officiating. Interment will follow in the Mohawk Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 5, 2010 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mohawk American Legion or the American Heart Assoc., envelopes will be available at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home.
