Ilion Dennis W. Prior, 58 of 319 Otsego St. in Ilion, passed away on Saturday October 31, 2009 at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. Dennis was born on November 6, 1950 the son of the late William and Ferne (Oswald) Prior. Dennis was educated in Ilion schools and SUNY Delhi. Following school Dennis enlisted in the US Navy serving in the Seabees earning the rank of Chief. After serving for 21 years in the Navy he retired and was currently employed as a truck driver for Pacemaker Steel and Pipe co. On June 9, 1973 Dennis was united in marriage to the former Kathleen Burch. Dennis was an avid golfer and bowler having bowled 13 perfect 300 games. Dennis was of the Methodist faith. Dennis is survived by his wife Kathy, a son and his family Dennis Jr. his wife Rhonda and children Ashley, Alexandria and Brooke of Georgia. His two daughters and their families Heather Prior and her companion Pete Downs and son Dylan of Ilion. Sheri and her husband Brian Evans and their children Damian and Chase of Frankfort. Dennis also leaves several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was pre deceased by a granddaughter Justine Nicole Prior. Funeral services for Dennis will be held on Thursday November 5, 2009 at 7 pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. Ilion. Rev. Robert Wollaber will officiate. Interment will follow on Friday at 10;30 am in the Norwich Corners Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Dennis' family wish to thank the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Joe Lawrence, Anna and Ralph Wellington and all their friends for their kindness and compassion during Dennis' illness.
