Mrs. LaVivian "Vivian" Mills, age 93, of 195 Keats Rd., Mooresville NC, died Saturday, June 6, 2009 at , home.
Vivian was born March 19, 1916 at Ilion, NY the daughter of the late Eugene V. and Ethel G. (Hall) Hammond.
Vivian was united in marriage to Ralph Joseph Mills on July 19, 1937 in Ogdensburg, NY
Vivian was a nurse for 45 years in Utica and Ilion hospitals. She retired several years ago.
She is survived by her daughters Shirley and Dwayne Groat of Florida; Barbara and James Guris of Florida; and Mimi and Rob Hamilton of NC; she also leaves her grand children, DR. Scott Groat, Michele Troutman, Michael Groat, Therese Robinson, Christopher Groat, Kelly Boone, Patrick Guris, Mary Bardsley, Renee Reed, JoAnne Trevino, David Hamilton and DR. Gary Hamilton. 29 great grand children, and 2 great great grand children. She was pre deceased by her husband Ralph, and her sister Marian Kawa.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Cavin-Cook Funaral Home, in Mooresville, NC, . Graveside service will be held on Saturday June 13, at 10:00 in the Mohawk Cemetery, with Deacon James Bower officiating.
Memorials in Vivian's memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Lake Norman 705 Griffith St. Suite 203, Davidson NC, 28036.

About Us
The Whiter Funeral Company was started in 1893 by H.A. Whiter and was originally located in Forestport, NY. Following a fire in Forestport, the family relocated in Ilion, and reopened the funeral home in the early 1900's.
