Mohawk Anne R. Steere, 88 of Garden St. in Mohawk passed away on Thursday December 15, 2011 at her home. Anne was born on April 28, 1923 in the Town of Hartwick, the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Irman) Ruparsheck. Anne was a graduate of Cooperstown High School as well as MVCC and Utica School of Commerce. She was employed as Office Manager for the Carbone Auto Group, retiring in 1990. On October 18, 1947 she married Stanley Steere at St. Mary's Church in Cooperstown, Stanley passed away in 1971. Anne was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk and the Minnow Brook Garden Club. She was an avid gardener who especially loved roses. Anne is survived by her two sons, Gordon of Richfield Springs and Mark of Ilion; she also leaves a sister Sophia Culotti of Port Byron. Funeral services for Anne will be held on Monday December 19, 2011 at 1pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St in Ilion, Sr. Mary Jo Tallman will officiate; interment will follow in the Mohawk Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 11am until the time of the funeral. Friends are asked to consider memorial contributions to either the American Heart Assn. or the Herkimer County Humane Society, envelopes are available at the funeral home.
