Ilion Miriam T. "Mim" Wirth, 95, formerly of Massachusetts Ave. in Ilion, passed away on Friday October 28, 2011 at the Folt's Home in Herkimer. Mim was born on January 16, 1916 in Centralia PA the daughter of the late James and Alma "Bartho" Dempsey. Mim was educated in Centralia schools and received her RN degree from Allentown General Hospital, where she spent her early years as an RN. On August 27, 1941 Mim married Dr. William Wirth in Allentown, he passed away in 1973. Mim was a member of the Annunciation Church in Ilion and also the Mohawk Valley General Hospital Guild. Mim is survived by her son Christopher and his wife Joanne of Cloverdale CA; a brother Jack Dempsey of Giradsville PA; a sister Dorothy Kowalcyck of Ashland PA; two grandchildren Hanna Turberville and Micah Wirth and a great grandchild Kia Hunter Turberville. She is predeceased by a brother James Dempsey and a sister Ruth Beierschmitt. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mim will be held on Wednesday November 2, 2011 at 10am at the Church of The Annunciation in Ilion, The Very Rev. Anthony Barratt will officiate, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will follow in the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion. There are no calling hours. Friends are asked to consider memorial donations to the American Diabetes Assn, envelopes will be available at the church or at the Whiter-Hendrix funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion.
