Ilion date line Winifred E. "Winnie" Ames, 81, of 275 McGowan Road, Ilion went to the Lord surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 13, 2011 at home. Winnie was born September 14, 1930 in Bridgewater NY the daughter of the late Frank and Estel Davis Belfield and was a graduate of Bridgewater School in 1948 with a class of 8 students. On August 1, 1948 Winnie was united in marriage to Ferd M. Ames in Sangerfield, NY, Ferd passed away on June 19, 2006. Winnie was employed as a technician in central supply with Mohawk Valley General Hospital in Ilion , and previously at Herkimer Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1985. Winnie was a devoted Catholic. She was a member of Catholic Council, she was always willing to help others. Winnie and Ferd enjoyed their summers at Kring Point in the Thousand Islands. Winnie is survived by three daughters and two sons in law Floy and Rick Baldwin of Ilion, Gwen Collis of Richmond, VA, Dona and Donald Carpenter of Salisbury, three brothers and sisters in law Ebb and Theresa Belfield of Sangerfield, Harold and Helen Belfield of Stillwater, Donald and Marilyn Belfield of Waterville, a sister and brother in law Anne and Jim Feranandez of Ilion, six grandchildren Chad and Renee Baldwin, Greg Baldwin and his partner Carlos, Amy Collis Hingre, Christopher Collis, Eric and Michelle Neff and Marc Neff, five great grand children Matthew and Joshua Baldwin, Hunter Collis, Chelsea Howard, and Halie Neff. Winnies companion of two and one half years Clarence Moffatt, her canine companion Maggie, also several nieces and nephews, and cousins. Winnie was predeceased by two brothers Ora and William, sisters in law Ruth Belford, and Gloria Buscher. She is also survived by special friends, Shirley Jones, Pat Smallenburger and Stanley North. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Ferd and Winnie Tuesday October 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk with Fr. Mark Cunningham officiating , assisted by Sr. Mary Jo Tallman Parish Life Director . In keeping with Winnie wishes there are no calling hours.
