Ilion Clayton Dodge, 96 of Ilion passed away on Friday September 23, 2011 at Mohawk Valley Health Care in Ilion. Clayton was born on June 18, 1915 in Schuyler the son of the late Clarence and Mable (Kane) Dodge. He was educated in Schuyler and was employed as a sander in Remington Arms, retiring several years ago. On December 14, 1940 Clayton married the former Helen Gorton, she passed away on March 4, 1977. Clayton was of the Methodist faith and was an avid baseball fan who enjoyed his grand children's games. Clayton is survived by his sons Douglas and his wife Frances of Colorado and Gary and his wife Sylvia of West Virginia; his daughters Ruth and her husband Milfred Breist of Florida, Patricia and her husband Richard March of Ilion, Cheryl and her husband Phil Fotia of Florida and Cecilia "Cissy" (Moreau) and her husband Dick Yates of Ilion; his brothers Kenneth and his wife Eleanor and Curtis all of Schuyler. Clayton also leaves several grand and great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son Paul and his brothers and sisters Wayne, Wilson, Denslow, Donald and Jessie Dodge and Patricia Cote and Doris Prosser. Funeral services for Clayton will be held on Tuesday September 27, 2011 at 10am at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. Pastor Don Dixon will officiate interment will follow in the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9 am until the time of the funeral.
