Ilion Norman B. Hale Jr., 78, of 283 Barringer Rd in Ilion passed away unexpectedly, at home, on Monday July 4, 2011. Norm was born on January 8, 1933 in Oneonta the son of the late Norman B. and Lelia (Butts) Hale. He was a graduated of Oneonta High School and in 1952 joined the US Navy, serving until 1956. On January 9, 1960 he married the former Georgiana Falconer in Port Washington, she passed away in 1989. Norm was employed with UNIVAC, Par Tech and retired from Snyder Trucking in 1998. Norm was a member or the Ilion United Methodist Church and was active in Scouting and coaching baseball when his children were younger. Norm is survived by his son Jeff and his wife Dianna of Albany; a daughter in law Valerie and her husband Robert Berie of Ilion; his grandchildren Alex and his wife Kimberly, Colin, Trevor and Tori. He also leaves his nieces and nephews Andy, Matthew, Tanya and Marta, and a great niece Abby. He was predeceased by his wife Georgiana, his son Norman and a sister Jean Kusko. Funeral service for Norm will be held on Friday July 8, 2011 at 10:30am at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion; Rev Robert Wollaber will officiate, interment will follow in the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion.
