Ilion Date Line Ned E. Bohr, 82, formerly of 501 Forge Hill Estates Ilion passed away Wednesday May 25, 2011 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer. He was born September 9, 1928 in Lebanon, PA the son of the late John and Alyerta (Zeller) Bohr, and received his education in the Lebanon and Utica Schools. Ned served with the US Army during the Korean War. On July 5, 1952 he married the former Iona Terrell at St Agnes Church in Utica, Iona passed away on April 17, 2011. Ned was employed with Remington Arms in Ilion for 40 years, retiring as a supervisor. While at Remington Arms his additional assignments included Editor of the Remington Action, Chairman of the Remington Arms United Way Drive, and Past President of the Remington Arms 25 year Club. Ned also attended Utica College nights while working at the Arms. For many years Ned and his wife Iona enjoyed their camp as members of the Cedar Lake Club. Ned was former member of the Conversation Club in Ilion. Ned attended Our Savior Lutheran Church in Utica where he served as Liturgical Deacon, Stewardship Chairman, Councilman and Past President of Lutheran Men's Group. Currently he was a member of the Lutheran Church in Herkimer. Ned is survived by a daughter Kathleen and her husband John Hannon of Williamsville, NY and a son Richard of Wellsboro, PA; two grandchildren Steven and Scott Hannon; a brother James and a sister Nancy Bohr Fitzgerald. He was predeceased by his wife Iona, a son Ned J. Bohr, a brother John Bohr and a sister Eleanor (Bohr) Schneider. Funeral services for Mr. Bohr will be held on Friday May 27, 2011 at 1:00 PM from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc., 100 Otsego Street Ilion with Pastor Ann Zimmerman officiating, interment will follow in the Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. Friends may call on Friday May 27, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
